Edition 3: Godzilla, The Great Passage, ACCA, and More
This week there are new promo videos to The Great Passage, ACCA and In This Corner of the World. It has been announced that Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryū to Odoru gets an anime adaption and Godzilla gets a 2017 anime film with a story concept by non other than Gen Urobuchi.
Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryū to Odoru gets Anime
The wraparound jacket band on Labo Asai’s 18th Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryū to Odoru: Dances with the Dragons light novel volume announced that an anime adaptation is in the works.
The story revolves around “jushiki”, the equations that govern the quantum constant “h” of action, change the laws of physics at the local scale, give birth to TNT explosives and poison gas, and cause incredible physical phenomena such as plasma and nuclear fusion. Two “jushikishi” who use jushiki in battle are Gayus and the beautiful but cruel sword-wielder Gigina. These two bounty hunters are caught up in a battle with dragons in the city of Eridana and in the intrigue of great nations.
Godzilla gets Anime Film
An anime film of TOHO’s iconic Godzilla franchise has been green-lit under the simple title in Roman characters, Godzilla. The film will open next year. The staff presented a teaser visual.
Kobun Shizuno and Hiroyuki Seshita are directing the film at POLYGON PICTURES. Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus is credted with the story concept and screenplay.
The Great Passage PV
The official website for the tv anime adaptation of Shion Miura’s The Great Passage novel began streaming the anime’s first promo video.
The series follows the employees at the Genbu Shobō publishing company. Araki, who is a veteran editor for the dictionary department, is looking for a successor now that he’s approaching retirement age. After Majime Mitsuya — a salesman who’s a poor talker — meets Masashi Nishioka — Araki’s coworker who is sociable and frivolous — Araki overhears their conversation and decides to recruit Majime into the department. The story follows “the awkward humans” Majime and Masashi as they work together to compile a medium-sized Japanese dictionary titled “The Great Passage”.
The official website for the tv anime adaptation of Natsume Ono’s ACCA 13-Ku Kansatsu-Ka manga began streaming the anime’s first promo video. The video reveals the show’s cast, staff, and January premiere date.
Shingo Natsume is directing the anime at MADHOUSE. Tomohiro Suzuki is handling the series composition, Norifumi Kugai is adapting the characters for animation, and Ryō Takahashi is composing the music.
In This Corner of the World PV
The official website for the anime film In This Corner of the World began streaming the full trailer. The trailer is the first video for the film that features voice acting, and it reveals the film’s voice cast.
Additional staff for the film includes Chie Uratani as assistant director and screen composition, Hidenori Matsubara as character designer and animation director, kotringo on the music, and Taro Maki as producer at GENCO. MAPPA studio founder and producer Masao Maruyama is credited for planning. Tokyo Theatres Company is distributing the film.
The film is based on Fumiyo Kono’s To All The Corners Of The World manga. The award-winning manga follows a bride named Suzu Urano as she moves to her new life in Kure City on the coast of Hiroshima Prefecture. Suzu perseveres through World War II with pluck and determination
