Edition 2: Pokémon, The 7 Deadly Sins, New Mekakucity, and More

The previous week I’ve been away and there wasn’t a newspaper. There’ve been really lots of news while I was away and today I’ll tell you the most important and interesting ones of the past two weeks. Maybe there’s something you haven’t heard about before.

 

Pokémon Sun & Moon gets Manga

The Pokemon Company Japan announced that a new Pokémon Sun Moon manga will begin in the October issue of Shogakukan’s Coro Coro Comics on September 15. Tenya Yabuno is drawing the series.

A preview of the manga ran in the September issue of the magazine . The preview shows the protagonist, a boy named Akira, setting off on an adventure in the Alola region with his partner Rockruff.

The 7 Deadly Sins gets Anime

Hobby Japan opened a website for the anime adaptation of its The 7 Deadly Sins (Nanatsu no Taizai, not to be confused with the similarly named manga by Nakaba Suzuki) multimedia project. The site is streaming a promo video for the anime, which reveals it will be a tv anime titled sin Nanatsu no Taizai.

Kinji Yoshimoto is directing the anime at TNK and Artland, and he is also credited for story concept, series composition, and color design. Masashi Suzuki is the main writer.

Niθ drew the project’s original character designs, and Sachiko Yasuda is adapting the character designs for animation. Yasuda is also credited as chief animation director, alongside Masaru Koseki and Junji Goto. Kio Edamatsu is credited with industrial design. Kenta Masuda is the art director, and Sadahime Matsubara is visual coordinator.

Nil Admirari no Tenbin gets Anime

Idea Factory’s Otomate brand of otome games for female players announced during its Otomate Party event that its Nil Admirari no Tenbin: Teito Genwaku Kitan game is inspiring both an anime adaptation and a sequel game.

The story of the first game is set in the Taisho Era at the beginning of the 20th century — except the era did not end in 15 years (as it did in real life) but lasted 25 years. To protect her family which fell from its former glory, a girl decides to marry a man whose name she does not even know. However, before she does, her little brother commits suicide in a mysterious fire, with an old book in hand.

The Imperial Library Information Assets Management Bureau — also known as “Fukurō” — then appears before the confused girl. According to the Fukurō, there exists books called Maremono which exert a great influence on those who read it. Moreover, the girl gained the ability to see an “Aura” due to the incident with her brother. Despite her confusion, the girl chooses to leave the “birdcage” of her former life.

Kabukibu! gets Anime

Kadokawa revealed that Yuuri Eda’s Kabukibu! light novel series is getting a tv anime adaptation.

The series revolves around Kurogo Kurusu, a high school student who loves kabuki so much that it’s annoying. Kurogo yearns to perform kabuki as part of a club at his school, but currently his school doesn’t have a kabuki club. So Kurogo sets out to create a kabuki club, and his first order of business is to gather members. Kadokawa will publish the novel’s fifth volume on November 25.

Ao Oni gets Anime Film

The horror game franchise Ao Oni is inspiring both a series of tv anime shorts this fall and an anime film next year. Ao Oni: The Animation series of anime shorts will premiere this October. The film Ao Oni: The Animation will then open in 2017.

The Ao Oni: The Animation television series will be a comedic take on the original story with the familiar characters drawn in SD style.

The film Ao Oni: The Animation will be closer to the traditional mystery horror of the original game, although it will have a new story that is different from the original game, novelization, and live-action films. Studio DEEN is also animating the film.

New Mekakucity Actors Anime

The four-part Niconico streaming program “Seek at Mekakucity,” which featured Kagerou Project characters, ended with an announcement that the franchise will get “more anime.” The end of the video reveals a tentative title for a new anime: “Mekakucity Reload.”

The video did not specify that the new anime would be a sequel to the first television anime. However, the video did specify that the new anime is not the immersive MX4D anime short film that is slated for this winter.

Mouiidesukara gets 2nd Season

A second tv anime season based on Sui Futami’s Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara manga has been green-lit.

Mahou Shoujo Nante Mouiidesukara Second Season will premiere this October. Kazuhiro Yoneda is returning to direct the anime at studio PINE JAM, along with the six main cast members. Earth Star Dream will once again contribute the theme song.

Occultic;Nine PV

The official website for the tv anime of Chiyomaru Shikura’s Occultic;Nine light novel series revealed the anime’s first promo video, staff, theme songs, character designs, and October premiere.

Kyōhei Ishiguro is directing the anime with assistant director Miyuki Kuroki at A-1 Pictures, and MAGES. and To-Jumpei Morita are credited with supervising the series scripts. Tomoaki Takase is adapting pako’s original character designs from the novel series for animation, and Kouta Michishita is designing the props.

Yoshinori Shiozawa is credited with the art design, and Hisayo Usui is the art director. Kazuko Nakashima is the color key artist. Yoshihiro Sekiya is the director of photography, and Ryūta Ono is directing the 3D animation. Akinori Mishima is editing. Jin Aketagawa is directing the sound, and Masaru Yokoyama is composing the music.

ID-0 PV

World Cosplay Summit presented a teaser trailer for ID-0, its original anime directed by Goro Taniguchi at Sanzigen “for cosplayers.”

Yousuke Kuroda is supervising and writing the series scripts, and Kanetake Ebikawa is credited with “mechanic character design,” and Hiromi Kato is adapting Range Murata’s original character designs for animation. Fumihiro Katagai, Takeshi Takakura, and Takayuki Yanase are designing the mecha, and Seiichi Shirato is credited as a researcher. Bandai Visual is streaming the teaser.
